G'day,
Picked up four working units of the Allen Bradley Smart Motor Controller (SMC-2).PDF Manual
The main guts of the unit contains three individual Phase Control Thyristor Modules (shown in photo #1) that are controlled individually by the main PCB controller via the three connectors you can see in photo #2 & #3 PDF Data Sheet for module
The modules are arranged "TT" which is thyristor+thyristor in series shown in the Data Sheet
The overall unit is rated at:
Three Phase at 50/60Hz
97A continuous current maximum at 50 Pounds an Inch Torque
Maximum 415 Volts at 55 kW
It is the operation of Phase Control I am primarily interested in conjunction with the optional controller mentioned in the first PDF manual link above.
Anyone have some ideas as to use this unit for control of a generator?
I have too many thoughts of what to do with them
...some ideas are controlled braking of generator, controlled phase (half -full), frequency control, current and voltage control...

CraziestOzzie,
That sort of gear is well above my head, though I sounds like there is potential for advanced control.
I hope you find some opening for applying your talents to it.
Good luck.
