Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

re-post in new topic due to age of the related thread (thanks to a BS member that pointed out the original thread was 4 years old next stop)

Just a note to say there is a code-pack for Reading/Writing Winbond flash memories now in the library here: http://fruitoftheshed.com/MMBasic.MMBasic-code-pack-to-Read-and-Write-Winbond-Flash-Memories.ashx

This is a pure MMBasic solution (no CSubs/CFunctions) so MMX and ArmMite users can now enjoy these fantastic little chips. The code has been tested on 4 and 8MB devices and I will check other chips as they arrive (16MB on order)

enjoy

Great stuff, Cap'n!

I was about to ask about the supported capacities but you already just covered it.

Many thanks!

@Cap'n

Are you using the bare device or one of those eBay-type modules?

Can't remember where I got them from but I have a strip of bare chips.

My test setup for this code was one of my Mk5 '170 controller boards with the Flash on-board but BigMick has been testing the same code on his MMX BackPack64x boards in Oz... with enviable speed differences

If it helps I can send you a bare PCB and you can build up the same as I have here, PM me if you want to reproduce this same test board.

regards

Offer much appreciated, sir but I need to resist. I believe that I already hold the world record for the number of times that a H7 has been unpacked/repacked

Trying to stay focused on the 2nd E100 project....had a weak moment today and drifted on to the Micromite.org site and ordered another MX170 module..aarrgh!

Darn you Geoff & Pete

hooked!

If you snag one of those break-out modules on ebay, you can play with the Windbond Flash on all those platforms with the same code
