I don't know ESP8266 Basic, but Annex Basic, other than the standard Basic command set, is radically different, with many extensions to handle web pages and MQTT for instance. LCD options are limited compared to MMBasic. I like the ability to push changing sensor data to a web page without a user refresh or an HTML meta refresh.
