Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

That would explain my confusion.

And mine. LOL
Just shows though, I designed my Backpack without consulting my own documentation (at least, not that diagram). I had every SPI connection wrong and no-one spotted it - they were all looking at the official RPi diagram probably, just as I've done every time I've connected a PicoMite up. It's *very* difficult to spot your own errors. I've just had to print out Peter's master list of I/Os and compare it with a revised diagram, ticking pins off - and I *still* made one mistake.

palcal said  I'll get a new card I'm using an old 4GB card.

I got my last couple from Australia Post. $10 for a 32Gig. Worth checking if they have them still.

For info, the attached is the official Raspberry Pi Pico pdf of the Pico pinout (from their datasheet).

Re SD card size issue.
The brand can make a difference too. A ten year old 128MB (that's MB) that came with a Canon camera seems to work with everything.

as i recall, 4gb was a problematic size for SD cards. initially, only sizes up to 2gb were allowed for in the original SD card standard, but when manufacturers were able to make 4gb cards they found a work-around that allowed 4gb to work.

the standard was soon extended, allowing for much larger cards. in this extension, however, those early 4gb cards (and the work-around they exploited) was not covered. the end result was some 4gb cards would only work in certain devices.

someone else might like to research a little more and find the full story.

cheers,
