Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Odd question, when the SD Card is inserted live, should the Maximite reset?
For crying out loud, all I wanted to do was flash this blasted LED.

My understanding is this should work OK (and does on my PCBs - but I have added extra decoupling...).

However, depending on your decoupling caps, the "power spike" that occurs when the card is inserted and initially powers up could reset the PIC.

Add some extra decoupling around the SD card socket to smooth the power rail and see if that helps (again, LOW ESR caps are the way to go!).

I used to swap my SD card from the Maximite to the PC all the time with it running programs to edit the Basic software I was writing with no problems!
Now I just use HyperTerminal and cut and paste with note pad.

Its easier to ask forgiveness than to seek permission!
