Hi

I need to convert this lookup table for MMBasic, this is my first attempt at using lookups

Could someone give me an example of what the correct syntax would look like

{ 1,15, 9}, { 1,15,10}, { 1,15,11}, { 1,15,12}, { 1,15,13}, { 1,15,14}, { 1,15,15}, { 2, 8, 8},

The easy way to do this is to format the data for the DATA command and use the READ command to read it using nested FOR loops into a 2-dimensional variable array in the structure you want.

Another way of doing it is explained in:

Data CFunctions

Thanks matherp

What I normally do is

DIM A(256)
DATA 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9----ect
FOR B = 0 to 255
READ A(B)
NEXT B

But I have no idea how to format the data into nibbles

No that will not work.

I think the simpler way is to load it into a texteditor (notepad) and do a search and replace.
Replace the { and } with "

Then you have strings that can be put into data statements
{1,2,3},{1,2,4},
Becomes
"1,2,3","1,2,4",
Put DATA front of each line and delete the , at the end of the line.
DATA "1,2,3","1,2,4"
Then paste that into your program and read each string into an array.
You can then split the string to get each value.

No does not matter. It will use memory so if you are running low on memory you could save some by removing the spaces.

You could use some more find and replace steps to get rid of them.
Just find a " and space combination and replace with a "

Also find , " and replace with ,"
Preprocessing with find and replace is very efficient when there is lots of the same style formatted text. Edited by TZAdvantage 2014-12-16

the numbers you have all seem to be between 0 and 15, so a neat way of encoding them to save space would be in hexadecimal form:
{1,15, 9} would become &h1F9

using 'search and replace':
change "10" into "A", "11" into "B", etc.
delete all commas
deleta all spaces
replace "{" with "&h"
replace "}" with ", "

@geoff
btw, has extended syntax for RESTORE made it into the micromite mk2?
ie RESTORE [n] where n is a line number or label?

cheers,

Encode the three numbers as three hexadecimal 4-bit tetrads and combine them together to form 12-bit hexadecimal numbers (3 hex digits). Then you can easily search in a one-dimensional array and using the shift right and bitwise and. This is much faster than any string search.

Thanks for the reply's

May be a bit more info on what I am trying to do will help :)

I am trying transmit a data string on COM1 using DominoEX16 (I am currently using RTTY) here in the info

http://www.qsl.net/zl1bpu/MFSK/M16.htm

I am at the very beginning of this project and am still learning BASIC so any ideas are welcome

Here is another link but MFSK16 is relevant
