Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

SC18IM700 manufactured by NXP. I luckily came across this one only because I needed exactly this functionality. It can save a whole microcontroller in some cases. It is an I2C master which is controlled via serial UART channel by text instructions. On top of that it also has a GPIO 8-bit port also available through text commands from the serial port. I thought this info could be interesting to someone else too. http://rittle.org -------------- |

So that is US$2.20 not a bad price for a 1 off purchase, but if you have a stock of small PICs on hand you could code one for the same functions. I have been looking for a test project for the next release of Great Cow Basic, maybe I could try and emulate this device and post the hex file here for general use. a suitable PIC12 or PIC16 will probably be half the price and I could probably make the source portable to run on any PIC you have at hand. No Promises, but worth a try :) Cheers Chris http://caroper.blogspot.com/ |
