Hi,

I just saw the thread http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7453 where break-out-board for PIC32MX470 were discussed and I was looking to make the same.

But what I ordered and is on its way is the break-out-board picture attached herewith. Will this break-out-board work? or should i order the one in the said thread link.

I use these quite a bit

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5pcs-QFP-TQFP-LQFP-FQFP-32-44-64-80-100-to-DIP-Adapter-PCB-Board-Converter-/191769130442?hash= item2ca654b5ca:g:iqkAAOSw5IJWgQFs

they take a variety of different pin counts and are double sided so they cater for the two most common pin pitches.

The board will work as will the one referenced by CaptainBoing. The difference is that you will have to make all the links between the various GND and power pins externally and organise the VCAP connection, MCLR pullup etc. whereas the red PCB has most connections already made (except AVDD and USBV)

I have used these types of board often and they are good for playing around with a new chip. One hassle is that you have to mount the bypass caps, crystal, etc on the underside of the board and that gets messy. You also have a forest of jumper leads to connect power, peripherals, etc... but they are flexible.

Below is an example of a test setup that I used to develop the original Maximite.

I wrote up using one of the 100 pin ETTEAM breakout boards to make a Colour Maximite back in the middle of 2013. It's a similar process to Geoff's post above but I got a bit more carried away. This is the link.
