I know this is not really a PC or Micro-controller thread, but this kid is simply amazing. If you like guitar playing, and Gary Moore especially(as I do), then you HAVE to see this.....

Parisienne Walkways

...he's 11 here....

Too bluesy for you? Try this one:

The Stumble

I now support this dude on Patreon. He can play guitar like no-one I have seen for his age - and he idolises Gary Moore, so that has my 'Yes'.

EDIT: How about a little Deep Purple?

Highway Star

Burn

Pooh-pooh...
Kids like that are why I gave up playing guitar!

That was GOOD, and no - not too bluesy for me, right up my alley!
Thanks for the post!

I am blown away by this kid. HOW can someone so young, play so well!!!!
As a Gary Moore listener for decades, this is so top notch.
I also love Deep Purple and have been listening to them for decades also.
Andrei's solos for Highway Star and Burn and damn near note-for-note perfect.

Never could figure that out myself!
If you consider guys like Jimmy Page, Joe Bonamassa, GM - they've got years of experience... but for an 11yo to be that good and AS good is pretty mind boggling!

Here's a bit of Gary Moore that shows the simplicity that made him so great! (If you haven't seen it already)

I agree with all comments, thanks for the links to stuff I've not seen.

Got the guitars and an amp, just need to find time to learn to play!

Gary Moore is one of my favorites, also a big fan of Andrew Latimer (Camel) among others.

Trevor.

No worries Grogster, glad you liked it
You gotta love how down-to-earth the guy is (was?)

Sadly, I'm lead to believe that was his last ever interview

Beats me!

If he can avoid various pitfalls he may have a stunning career.

There hasn't been a better time to be a guitar student thanks to technology.

Actually there are lots of youngsters playing at this level, I see them quite often at our local open-mic nights....LOVE it!

The good news is that ANYONE can be at this level, today.

Here's how I get my students up-and-running in a very short time:

1) Ditch the acoustic guitar that Dad bought for "you to learn on". Get an electric guitar with a decent setup and light-gauge strings. I go as light as .007 which are not very common.
2) Learn barre chords or you'll end-up only playing camp-fire songs
3) Learn the pentatonic scale in all positions
4) Use YouTube for free lessons. I only agree to giving the first lesson, just to get you kick-started
5) Download some backing tracks and play along to them
6) It's all about muscle memory, there are no short-cuts...practice, practice, practice. This is a lot more fun with backing tracks.

To someone who doesn't play, it appears as if this kid has every single note planned out...he doesn't. For the most part, he's running through a scale that will always work for that chord progression in that key. In other words, he's playing within safe boundaries. A really accomplished musician will break the rules which can go horribly wrong if he doesn't know what he's doing.
