This is the final version of the SSD1963 adapter board for the Armmite F4. Gerbers are attached

STM32F407.zip

Also attached a very slightly modified version of the Armmite firmware that corrects the backlight signal when an SSD1963 display is attached and the Backlight control on the display is selected to "LED_A"

ArmmiteF4.zip

If the Backlight control on the display is set to 1963_PWM or Always On, then the two way header can be left open. If the Backlight control is set to LED_A then set the header to 3V3 for full backligght with no control or BL for control by the PWM output from the STM32F407. NB: this PWM is completely separate from the normal PWM channels.

For 7" displays attach a 5V supply and GND to the 5V header on the adapter. I have found that the STM32F407 board is perfectly capable of supplying a 7" display from the 5V pins (bottom left in the picture) as long as you have a decent USB port powering the board.

For 9" displays using Grogster's East Rising adapter and external 5V supply should be used.

I've just scored one of these in an ebay auction for just �5.50 in P+P

Do you have the issue where if the USB plug is not EXACTLY in the right place, the board won't power? I and a few others have seen that problem. I just power the board externally via the pins, but curious to know if your board has that problem too.

Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!

Sorry, I got totally confused with the display types.

I originally thought that an adapter was being designed so that the ILI9341 display that came with the F4 could be better fitted to the board. Obviously I was wrong.

So the adapter here is for a totally different display type. Fair enough. Will investigate.

Right. This is so that the larger SSD1963 LCD panels will work on F4 boards. This works (in my case, with matherp's original adapter fixed with Din and Dout swapped) with 4.3" and 7" SSD1963 panels (as tested by me--matherp also tested these and 5" panels).

In order to get the 9" EarthRising SSD1963 panels to work, you additionally need Grogster's adapter. This also works for me (though color is wrong on mine, almost certainly for reasons not related to the adapters themselves).

(Rather than having Grogster supply them, you might want to order directly from JLCPCB using matherp's gerbers. The cost for me in June for 5 of matherp's original version was $9.25 U.S.--slow boat delivery.)

The adapter will also work with 40pin 3.2" ILI9341 displays

Ordering could hardly be easier.

1. Download the zip file in the first post, linked by the name STM32F407.zip
2. Go to https://jlcpcb.com/quote, click on "Add your gerber file", and navigate to the zip file you saved.
3. Confirm that you see the PCB image, click "Save to Cart", and pay.

For me, with shipping "Registered Air Mail", the total price today for 5 would be $10.02USD.

(Then in North America you wait weeks--probably quicker to Australia.)

F4 header is 32-pin not 24. I just use all 40 pin as they are very cheap on ebay and a pair of side cutters.
