Hi all - especially to you IF you're in Australia I have a very loyal UK customer who is after a MicroMite Plus LCD BackPack Module as featured in SC Nov 2016 (Page 64). This is a design created by Nicholas Vinen. If I order a PCB directly from SC, then it costs a fortune to land here in the UK (taking into account shipping costs plus import Duty). Then there is the 'delay' in receiving it (and my last order never arrived!!). I have worked out a channel to obtain SC PCBs going forward; however, this will be in place in about a months time. The issue I have is that my customer is wanting a PCB within the next two weeks. Does anyone out there have one (or ideally two) of these PCBs that they are willing to sell me at a 'sensible price' ? I would then need them shipped to me - Airmail seems to work well, but a tracked & insured service would be better in this case. Another possibility, does anyone out there know Nicholas well enough to allow me to make contact with him? Your help is appreciated . . . . Hi Phil, Confirm PCB I take it this is the PCB you want. As I am a subscriber I can get 10% off and they are quoting delivery to me in 3 days max. They are usually pretty good in this regard. Sorry, don't know Nicholas personally. Let me know if I can help. BTW I'm the one that had to come 12000 miles to pick up my order......... And no, I won't be flying over with the PCB's. Was great to have a beer with you though !!!! Regards, Mike B. There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those that understand binary and those that don't. |

Hi Mike, Yep - that is the correct PCB. Please could you get me 3 if thats ok Bit disappointed that you won't come and deliver them though! Phil, there's contact information plus phone numbers for Silicon Chip at this URL. I've contacted them before re project issues and they're pretty good at replying - like the following day. They give several e-mail addresses at the bottom of that page; if you use the Tech@ address I'm pretty sure you'll get him. Greg |

Thanks Greg for the idea of contacting Tech to try to get to Nick. Will give it a go . . . In the meantime, MikeB (above) is sourcing some PCBs for me for my immediate requirement. Does anyone know if Nicholas Vinen is present on TBS? If so - what is his 'screen name'? Thanks to all that have emailed me - your help is very much appreciated WW For everything Micromite visit micromite.org Direct Email: whitewizzard@micromite.o |

If you get the reception lady who answered my call about 12 months back, you will end up with very helpful & courteous customer support, able to make the right executive decision when all the official policies have failed. Phil. |

I called them a few years ago, and placed an ad. The receptionist was very helpful, had a dyed-in-the-wool Brit accent, and the ad duly appeared perfectly. There was not one response to the ad as far as I could tell . |

I must say I am bemused by the cost of postage of a small PCB. In New Zealand that PCB would cost $NZ2.20 to send to Australia or $NZ2.70 to the rest of the world (as a letter). The cost of the same from Australia is $A1.95, but the only option SC offer me is $10 + $7.50 for the board. I think from memory 10 boards plus shipping was around the same from Seeed. SKU:501010001 Price:4.90 Qtys:10 Shipping Fee:$12.02 Order Total:$16.92. |

Hi Kerry, Yep - I totally agree about SC's high costs - but then I guess they are a business with people that need to be paid! People here on TBS have been brilliant in offering to help me out. All is sorted now albeit I still do not have the Gerbers which ultimately would allow me to offer this module at a lower price.
