Anyone had any problems getting the CP2102 USB-Serial adaptor going in W10? I have a W10 tablet now, but it refuses to install it. It DOES see it, but says it needs drivers. If you let it look on the net, it just sits there forever looking, but never downloads or installs anything - Three hours and nothing, so I cancelled it. I thought that W10 supported this chip natively? I will manually look for drivers, but I did not think I needed to with W10. EDIT: Downloaded VCP driver from STLABS, and it is up and running fine. I don't quite know where I thought I did not need the driver came from.... This Grogster moment has been brought to you by Rictech Ltd. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

If you have a tablet with a smaller then nine inch display you probably have the free version of windows 10 installed. This should be the full system but many manufacturers will strip out anything they think is not needed and then image that for all of their products. This will then free up lots of emmc storage which often is small to begin with. They probably stripped out a bit more then would be good as the automatic finding of drivers works perfectly fine on a PC. Microblocks. Build with logic. |

Thanks guys. I was not dreaming then, when I thought that W10 knew about this one then. The tablet had W10 Home on it from new yes, but then the tablet wanted to update W10 to the new version, which it did, so I thought that in doing that.... Oh well - who cares. It's working with a little prod from the appropriate driver. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Sounds like a Looney Tunes cartoon! FWIW, I've had no issue running the CP2102's on W10. On a laptop. Not a tablet. I take tablets when I have a hangover. GTG! ...... Don't worry mate, it'll be GoodToGo! |
