Sounds like this hobby gets milked for all it's worth.... like a lot of other special interests.   Quick search found plenty of cheap little sound cards..... 10 sec voice recorder 30 sec recorder 2 min recorder Most expensive is about $10 and you can put your own sounds on them.  Especially with those ones designed to go in a gift card, you could have several and record different sounds like the Loco, Level crossing bells, station announcements etc.  Just activate which one you want at the time.
