Good excuse to test RFO BASIC. It's to Android what MMBasic is to the Pico.

Oh I meant for device to MCU comms.
Just download whatever to a PC and transfer via USB.
This virtual PWM is pretty cool for education

If it is complaining about expired security certificates, it should be happy talking to a local network bog-standard home-made http (not https) website.
I also would give RFO Basic a look. If the latest versions don't run on android 4.2, I should have a copy that does on one of my old phones.
RFO Basic will talk to a ESPxx and through that, any 'mite connected.

Hey Jim, thanks for the ever improving MMEdit
RFO dev is ongoing. It's open source and has a few spinoffs.
I'm using the original version on Android 12.
This thing is very slick and I have just switched away from the the compiler that is B4A.
B4A is great for heavy computation but it's event driven and I am satisfied that I don't like this...there is always a perceptible delay when interacting with the touchscreen. For user interface stuff, RFO responds instantly.
The one drawback (not for me), used to be that a "compiled" RFO app is merely a bundle. Add a ".zip" to the ".apk" and all source can be revealed.
Of course the user would have to somehow know that it's an RFO creation to realise this.
However, the APK compiler from mougino (link in previous post), actually encrypts the source and resources...works beautifully
This is compiling directly on the Android device
The resultant apk is just like any other app and can be uploaded to Google Play.

It's a graphical animation showing a variable PWM waveform with sliders for frequency and duty cycle. A depiction of an LED reacts to the sliders and the current/voltage varies accordingly.
All in those few lines of code.
If viewing the link on an Android device, tapping on the file with the ".apk" extension will install the compiled program.
So cool to be able to rapidly create apps that simply get the job done.
