Hi Mark, welcome.
Maybe it might get you more views and discussion if you start a thread over in the electronics section. This part of the forum is rarely visited for some reason, so it would be a pity to miss out on some answers simply from a lack of awareness.
I can certainly offer some views on winding toroids ... it is no where near as onerous as some seem to believe.
