The messaging protocols are supported in Python and many other languages. The code for the Nano LCD by Poida is freely available on the forum, it's simple and obviously nothing you do the LCD Nano is going to bother the Nano Controller, you could use a different LCD controller if hardware requirements make it easier to use with those protocols.
