Another nice idea - I will take it under advisement.
The main issue with that, is that these amps are inside access boxes on the side of the house, and so when the box is closed, there is no way for a solar panel to work, as it will be dark.
Sure, we could install one for each box, but I think that would involve more work then using the old phone cables. And the residents might complain about the visibility of the solar panels.
