Personally I think we have too few data-points, I suspect the number of people running the USB firmware + having a "generic" controller could be counted on James Doohan's right hand. And, even though I do have a RP2040 based USB board it's just low priority to update it's firmware and give it a poke. Best to let things settle for a while IMO. EDIT: The "indent" is presumably there so vendors can add their own badge. The photo Peter posted looks absolutely identical to one that I have with a PiHut badge glued in that spot.
