You said you could provide a way to indicate the presence of a PS2 keyboard.
Is this some PEEK() ?
I think it could be usefull, since key presses cannot clearly distinguish between INKEY$ and MM.INFO(PS2). Sometimes one is earlier, sometimes the other when polled in a loop.
INKEY$ is active at PS2 and at console.
