Completely off topic  

Tried different way of frying an egg ... usual ways, I either undercook the white
(yuk) or overcook the yolk (meh)..

So I thought, use separate regimes, no worries !!! Cook the white in frypan, good and hot, then smudge it into pea size bits with the spatula making it all into a volcano-crater shape.. turn the heat low, add the yolk and mix it around into an aggregate, the residual heat cooks it as you wish. You can make novelty shapes to ah, amuse the participants  (and it tastes great)

Here are two methods:

1) Fry in the pan as normal but you can hurry up the yolk and the top of the white by placing a large saucepan lid over the fry pan for as long as it takes.

2) Place the egg on an upturned paint tin and place it outside in the Aussie sun (about 10 minutes).
(no good for TassyJim though . . .)

I had an egg for breakfast - and it was delicious.



It was made by Cadburys, but I regret nothing!

My microwave method: imperfectly beat two eggs in a mug with a fork; stir in about 2 tablespoons of shredded cheese; microwave 90 seconds; break up with spoon and if necessary, microwave another 10-30 seconds.

No oil at all other than what is in the cheese, and only mug, fork, and spoon to clean.

(YMMV--Your microwave may vary.)

Add vinegar to boiling water, crack the egg into the cup and voila....a total disaster so I went to McDonald's

I am the same.

I cook my fried eggs on a low heat (if it bubbles and spits, it's too high) so as not to cause the edge to burn - hate that scarf. Once the egg has started to cook and is no longer running around the pan, gently splash the oil over the top of the yolk until all the white is solid. Use a wooden spatula - a metal impliment wicks the heat away from the oil.

This method cooks the white and leaves the yolk nice and dippy.

The Asian way is very good it has a really crispy texture on the bottom and cooked the way you like it on top.

Put a reasonable quantity of oil in a wok and get it hot (smoke point). Crack an egg into the oil and let it cook for 30s then ladle hot oil on top of the egg to cook the whites to preference. This will form bubbles in the white adding extra texture. Because of the hot oil and water in the egg this is dangerous so care needs to he taken with this method.

Season after it is served.
