This may be a useful config. It is very quick and easy to get up and running.
It is surprisingly reliable + robust if you use solid wire
The SD card adapter has a bypass capacitor included.
(Don't know if it will run MMBasic or not.)
The 4pin header allows a off-the-shelf stemmaQT/qwiic cable to be used.

GP4 GREEN D6 MISO
GP5 YELLOW D8 SS

I2C
GP12 (blue) SDA
GP13 (yellow) SCL

3v3 (red) 3v3
(note - do not connect GP14 to the 4pin plug)
