Hello people.
No, not given up, but HAVE downloaded the latest OMV and plan to play around with it. It has been developed from the ground up, to be a NAS, and there are lots of videos on YouTube showing exactly how to set it up.
Chris of Explaining Computers fame, has done at least a couple of different videos showing how to setup OMV, and I HAVE played with OMV before, but it was a few years ago.
I seem to remember a thread I started at the time, using Chris' video as the reference point. Chris kept very much to the KISS method with his videos, and OMV was open to anyone who could find it on the network, but I wanted BASIC password access, and the thread I started back then, had post from members here, showing me how to do it.
.....or was it the official OMV forums. I forget. One or the other.
I'm not expecting to be able to get anywhere with the old 32-bit Puppy and a 22TB HDD. As hinted at by me and confirmed by members above, that is gonna be a big ask, and I think there is simply going to be an incompatibility there. Smaller volumes are OK, but these huge capacity drives I expect MUST use 64-bit - no matter WHAT system you end up running. .....and 32-bit is pretty old technology now, too. |
