With Linux Mint installed, download the MMEDIT ZIP file, which contains both the Windoze AND Linux versions.
Create a new folder somewhere - anywhere under your user is fine - I made a new folder called PROGRAMS, and then another folder under that called MMEDIT. Extract all files to this location - right-click the ZIP file, EXTRACT HERE.
You will end up with several files INCLUDING the Windoze exe file, but you just ignore that.

OPEN the folder: "mmedit5_20.4"
Inside this folder, you will find a file called "MMEdit" - it does not have any extension.

RIGHT-CLICK the file "MMEdit", then select properties/Permissions tab - make sure there is a tick in "Allow executing file as a program"
Click CLOSE.
TO PUT THIS ON YOUR MINT DESKTOP:
Right-click on your desktop, select: "Create new launcher here..."
Put something in the NAME textbox if you want - this will be what it shows up as on the desktop. Click on BROWSE. Navigate to the "MMEdit" file above, click on OK.
A default icon should appear on your Mint desktop for MMEdit.
You can change the icon, by LEFT-CLICKING the icon/Properties, then click on the icon itself. From there, you can select any icon you want for MMEdit. |
