I'm not a Mint user but tried it briefly a while back. Mine didn't do what I think this one does... I think it's booting up into a logged-in user account and for some reason if you log out it shuts down.
MMEdit icon not working may mean one or more libraries not found. (I'm guessing.)
A mint user may know - hopefully!
