I tried using my air rattle gun today to start the wood splitter motor, and I am happy to say that it worked great.
The motor started well and continued to run no problems on the inverter.
It doesn't look like it needed much help to get it up and running. So when the soft starter turns up I will connect it to the run winding and see how it goes.
I am thinking if the soft starter doesn't do the job then I may try adding a Start capacitor into the circuit and use an electronic starter switch.
I may experiment with a start capacitor first with just a toggle switch first to see if it works.
But the good point is that with a bit of mechanical assistance from the air gun it starts well and runs great.
Thanks for the inputs and help
Pete
