soft starting single phase motor

The soft starter module turned up yesterday and it is also a failure. I tried it just connected to the run winding, but no go I also tried it connected to both windings but still no go. So I am back to spinning the motor up to speed by the air rattle gun and hitting the starter. As that works and i will only be using the splitter at the shed then that is the way I have to go. Pete
