So to summarize what should be measured in a generic custom made weather station
Basic:
Barometric pressure (weather prediction)
Ambient temperature
Ambient light
Ambient humidity
Rain accumulation (rain guage)
Wind speed (Wind vane)
Wind direction (Anemometer)
Extras:
Lightning sensor
Moisture sensor (Transpiration)
UV monitoring
Solar radiation
You could easily buy a commercial "closed data" weather station but I believe by designing a custom weather station you could add many software features that the expensive commercial units cannot touch. More research on-going ...
