Do Serial Flash Memories not have page boundaries to worry about like EEPROM? I note you are setting up 256 byte pages, but in theory, could you setup any page size you like, or are these kinds of memory chips set for a 256-byte page at factory? Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!
