Boy what a great and inspiring site! Seven months after the storm areas of New Orleans still have no electric. This could possibly be a solution. Or at least a big help! I am the only Green candidate in the upcoming elections and we desperately need alternate forms of energy. I have linked to this site from my election site. When I get the cash I'm gonna try this out.
Check out my site and my blog where I list local incentives for alternate energy projects!

Hi Charles.

Thanks for the comments about my site. I suggest you also look at www.otherpower.com, is an american based web site, so a bit closer to home. The main interrest on my site is in the F&P motor from the washing machines built by Fisher & Paykel, and though common down under, they are rare and hard to find in the USA.

Here in Australia we were surprised by the social decay after the hurricanes hit your area, very different to our way of life and hard for us to understand. A couple of things stood out.

First up, people were dying of thirst, when the place was flooded with water. At school as kids we learned how to distill water with a bucket, cup and a plastic bag. This simple infomation could have saved lives.

And second, the people were sitting around, asking why there was no help on its way. We cant undrestand why they could not help themselves, clean up the rubbish, recover the bodies, help eachother! It all seamed very alien to us.

I think the thing that would have helped the people of New Orleans more than anything would have been information and education. The skills to survive. This should start at school age.

On another note, its good to see more green candidates. If you get into office, remember to cut some slack with the guy who wants to put up a windmill tower in his back yard. Make it fair for him, not impossible.

Hope the elections go well for you.

Glenn

It does to the working class here in America as well. I'd guess most of those complaining and looting are on welfare or other government handouts, which unfortunately seems to support more lazy folks than needy ones. Very frustrating.

Nice site btw.
