Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Been lurking here as a guest for awhile.Really enjoy the site . Love the playhouse for the kids . Wish I could do it for mine but their parents rent so no chance.
I have a really small scale solar system going ,only to run night lights in the house .The panels sit inside on the window sill,no where near efficient but it does work with the limited demand on the battery's .The panels are home made designed to put out 14 volts sitting inside on the window sill. The lights are all LED including the Christmas lights that I put up this year. Controlled by a dark sensor using a 555 timer chip ,it runs 4 different lights and two small strings of Christmas lights. The lights are either 4 or 6 leds using a lm 317 regulator to control current. Total load is 250 mw ,I said it was small scale . But enough to navigate the house without turning on any other lights. My garage has a similar system that allows me to navigate to different sections without turning on any lights except where I am working.
A small vertical axis mill is in progress, working on the alternator now. Using a six pole magneto out of a motorcycle engine for the stator frame . Will it work ? In a limited capacity maybe . First test last night got .6 volts out of one pole . If nothing else its a learning experience but if I could even get enough to trickle charge a battery I'd be thrilled . I realize its not big enough to make any serious power.
Back to lurking mode now . Ivan
