I came upon the back shed last week, lurked and read, and lurked and read some more and then sent out the URL to my expat friends here in Tahiti. I can't speak for them, but only for myself. I have never found any Renewable site as good as this one, period. From what I see, the entire group seems to function as a team, and all questions are treated as that, questions, and are answered. I would like to introduce myself to you. I am an older than dirt retired US Navy Chief, and my home is on the Island of Raiatea in French Polynesia. There are both sunshine and wind power available in copious amounts for the taking and as I am getting ready to build a house about 3 miles from the grid, I will be needing both of those to provide me with enough current to live normally, and keep the better half happy. I am very impressed with the use of F & P Stepper Motors for Power Generation, and amazed at the expertise shown here in the development of those ideas. My first project is going to be the installation of a small shed with a mast about 30 to 40 feet in the air with solar panels and storage along with a data logging anemometer. I know of others here who have put in Solar systems and are having problems trying to ration their consumption. I am not sure of the reasons for the problems as here in the Pacific Islands, knowledge is power and is NOT to be imparted without payment. Other things, not a problem, but knowledge, if you have it, someone is gonna pay to gain access to that same level of expertise that you have... Don't ask me, it's something I have learned living here for almost half my life. I think that is one of the things that impresses me most about all of you and this fantastic back shed... Bravo Zulu to all of you. Thanks for allowing me to join your ranks, and I hope that I may be a contributor in the future. Ken Jackson CPO USN Ret. |

Welcome aboard Chief. The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |
