I really like this site - come here often. I noticed in one section there was discussion regarding current measurements for the PicAxe logger. On my charger circuits into my battery bank, I take a voltage drop reading across the fuse rather than introduce a shunt. Mine works out to a 3-mV drop per amp. Just a thought.

Thanks for that, good idea. Only problem is if you blow a fuse it would overload the meter, instead of a few mV's, you would get the full battery voltage.

The fuse is a good idea as the impedance of the measuring cct would be very high, so a simple limiting resistor with zener protection should suffice. Would probably provide indication of a blown fuse as well.
