heyas! Nice site.

I'm a bit of a noob to the tech geek side of things but i play with stuff in a basic way.

I currently have a 85watt solar panel on my 4wd and it supplies power to the second battery and runs a fridge, laptops, lights and amatuer radios when camping.

I also have a similar set up at home, a 85watt panel in to a 120ah battery which runs the 12v 22inch HD tv, laptops, radios, light and small fan for the hot evenings.

anyways, i'm having a beer and browsing the site, heaps of interesting stuff and a bit over my head, but iinteresting anyway.

Yeah windmills are fun. You can build something that works for very little, other than your time, so long as you dont expect too much at first. A lot of beginners have plans to build a wind turbine to light up the house and save on their power costs, and end up with something that can barely light up a LED, but thats where most of us started. As you learn, you'll understand why things do and dont work, and build better machines.

Hi Slippy

I forgot to mention that while we all have an experimental interest in various sorts of wind mills I am sure that most members have a solar set up as the workhorse of the system, it's just that there isn't as much doing with the making of panels as the price has dropped to less than the cost of materials to make one.

I have a box of cells that need assembling this winter when there is a break in other work, but the cost will be higher than I can buy them for, it's just that they are there and I don't want to waste them.
