Crew A friend sent me this video link today. It shows how farmers in the PI are using empty soda bottles as a passive light source inside the small shacks they live in. It's not likely to take off in our cities and towns, but it might be worth considering for out buildings on the farm or at someone's holiday cabin in the mountains or at the beach. It'd likely fly in the outback. In the States, we have a company (Solatube) that does essentially the same thing, but charges around a thousand dollars. Of course, you'll not likely find many folks willing to punch a hole in their roof to save a few cents on lighting and in the same instance, possibley create a roof leak that may cause hundreds of dollars of water damage. Just an idea I thought interesting enough to share with the crew. . . . . . Mac Nothing difficult is ever easy! Maybe bit modified arrangement to let light in through side opening or wall would fix leaking roof problem? George |
