Is there a standard strategy for using PV for running something that should not be stopped/started repeatedly ?

I am wondering about running a dehumidifier - approx 240 W - on PV but intermittent power is likely to damage it. The standard solution is to run batteries / inverter of course but is there an optimum formula to use ? If say if I want the dehumidifier to run for three hours at a time or even overnight, hopefully there is a standard formula to apply which will tell me the likely results based on insolation times, load, battery size etc.

That could be used in a micro to run it to an extent.
