The state government is planning to introduce Net feed tariff rates to victorians in the second half of the year. Next week they are meeting solar buisness people to chat etc (dont know who they are ) anyway my friend is with AGL power and said she is getting a 1kw grid system in a few months and AGL victoria is offering a Gross feed in rate. Anyone have this or use AGL to confirm this. I went onto their website but it was no help.
I am with origin which offers the feed in rate in Net.
They are still installing bi directional meters though and have no plans to install smart meters yet. I rang them today and the man in the know said their was nothing at all on his desk to start any rollout of smart metrs in the foreseable future, which he took to mean not this year at least.
NSW seems a long way ahead of victoria as do other states.

interesting considering the VIC statement says only net feed in

2kw cap 60cent net bla bla

hhhmmmm i`m getting my 2kw system installed on the 17th april.....hhhmmm i will have to sus out AGL a little further..

2kw x 60cents x gross payment yes please!!!

what deal did you get on the system rgormley ? did you get the sunny boy inverter ?

Hello rgormley,not sure where you are in Oz but a group buying scheme is being organized in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne which may offer significant savings.And the IG30 is an upgrade on ig30???

Sorry what i meant to post was the web special that normally includes the ig20 but they upgraded my package to the ig30 for the same price $11975

as for this buying group, i have seen them before, they have stipulations, like 20 houses in a neighbour have to sign up, or they use cheaper Chinese stuff (as against fronius,sunnyboy,latronics, the panels.... I just preferred the "sharp" brand, and plus it`s paid for and will be installed soon. it’s a LOT of stuffing around with recs,rebates,meters,goverment bodies, power companies to do it again..

rgormley, well done on your system, the reason i asked what you got is my friend just ordered a 2kw system as well in melbourne and got the following...German designed panels ...
2040watts 12 panels plus sunny boy or fronius inverter your choice, for $9,300 after rebates.
I agree with you re the buying groups, some are just hopeless, money up front and nothing for 5 months. the one my friend ordered was great, no money down till delivery.....very nice people as well
i am not a fan of energy matters, due to their service,and price.. but thats another story
now if you can get Gross feed in your made.

Hi michael,

I am not a great fan of payment for gross export. Additional metering costs, and usually the rate is much less and offers no incentive by householder to reduce personal consumption. I get the benefit of the high buyback rate, and export nearly all the power my solar produces anyway. My utility pays 64c/kWhr for export power.

For those interested,

yesterday, a typical working day scenario, not much happening at home during the day, and a good sunny day. My solar produced 14kWhr, of which 12kWhr was exported to the grid. There was 1.8kWhr supplied from the grid. The net profit was $7. I have recorded 18kWhr on a peak sunny day in summer. This would be over $10 profit. Unfortunately the average does not amount to this sort of return. The key to low usage is LED lighting & LCD screens and only powering items when required. A low consumption fridge approx 1kWhr/day is required. The expected consumption is now displayed on most new appliances now.

Gordon, what is your average feed back to the grid?
sounds like you can make some good money...

has anybody considered the idea of buying a block of land (ACT or SA) and just sticking up a a huge array and get paid the FIT.

less costs for rates etc on the block of land.
can claim rates etc as a bussiness claim (tax)???

Hi richard,

some Riverland farmers have have ripped up trees and planted solar arrays. The ROR is higher, and the solar arrays don't need water.

mike, yup got it... thanks
i emailed them for price guidance on a standard tiled roof,fronoius,2kw system, but have not heard boo from them.....
