Hi All This new entry by Oztules lays out the best way to do it yourselves with panels, it is clearly written for us dummies and better than any other I have seen on the Net. Top Marks Oztules et al. All the best Bob http://www.thebackshed.com/windmill/articles/OzSolarPanels.a sp Foolin Around |

Yeah its a good article, I'm tempted to give it a go myself. Oz is very good at finding a simpler ways to do things, I guess it comes from living on an island. I've added a bit more info on the last page about sourcing the bare cells. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Hi Glenn I have enough cells left to build about 20 panels so if I can source some reasonable price glass I will give it a go. My local glass guy quoted me $52 a 600 x 1200 panel to make a 12 volt cell but am chasing some other glass next week. I think I am getting stupider as I get older. Bob Foolin Around |

Hi all, I find the article on solar panel fabrication by Oztules to be extremely informative and well written..kudos to you Oz. There has been some discussion on the types of glass to use or not use and with some difficulty determining if a particular piece of glass was suitable.. Just had a though.(I get one every 100 years or so). Why not use an existing solar panel and place the piece of glass in front of it and measure the output with and without the questionable piece of glass.. Just a thought Marty |

I loved reading that article and it was very informative but it also looks like it would take a lot of time to build one. I think it would be fun but the whole time I would probably be thinking that I could have just bought a pre-built panel instead. I guess it comes down to if you have the time, then why not.
