I have the new SunnyBoy 3300 grid tie inverter. Is there any way to modify it so it can put out a little more than 3300W?

I am expecting to get an answer that the unit is controlled by software burned onto the chips and there is nothing that I can do.

Hi jk,

You will find that the sunnyboy inverter LCD shows power supplied to the grid. My SB1700 max's out at 1710W to the grid. The unit dumps excess power to the heatsink until the temp shutdown activates and derates the array. Modifying the firmware outside allowed settings will void the warranty, and unless the max is exceeded regularly I would not bother trying to mod it. It would be better to reconfigure your system and possibly get another inverter.

I will suggest most power electronics is limited by heat dissipation issues so by trying to get more power through the thing heat management will become critical.

This is unlikely to result in a appliance that is reliable and gives a long service life.
