Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.
Been staring at my Pendulum Clock for months and thinking how can i
upscale the construction and at the same time increase mechanical
advantage whilst using a highly modified 'sausage' pendulum itself to
pass through coils. Be a beautiful sculptural result i reckon, even if it
don't output much.
Now one would have to do a days worth of weightlifting in a few seconds
( ha ha ha ) to re-store that potential energy, but could it be called
gravity powered? or human powered or even solar powered? because
photosynthesis developed the food that provided the muscles with
energy.
oops! - edit - forgot the whole point of the post - does anyone know of
what has been done along these lines?Edited by rivervalley 2009-02-17

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Seiko used to make a range of wall clocks that were that exact configuration with an elongated pendulum bob that passed through coils.
Yes, with the right skills I am sure you could make a beautiful sculptural exhibit, how about 'Steam Punk' style!
