Craned it out last week after no faults found with the pump motor.
-Motor was $1200 for some new bearings and a full birthday BTW.

Turns out the new bore casing supplied by Southern Cross and installed by McCrackens
has basically turned to a thin rusty shell after just 3 years since installation.

I might note the original installation / bore casing lasted over 30 years.

of course everyone is blaming everyone else.
McCrackens said oh in order to get warranty you'll need to get the water tested.
Dad's reply to this was yep, no problem, you'll be getting the sh*t steel tested then will you?
um um um........
ah no you'll have to pay for that too.

McCrackens quoting trade practices act and that this doesnt apply because its commercial etc thus "fit for purpose" doesnt apply.

unfortunately the best fix is to drop two new submersible pumps, one for stock, the other for irrigation......

this really sucks as its a $40K exercise, which is why i stuck with the original solution three years ago, and even then it was a $16K exercise to fix it.

Hi Karl

Why didn't they fit a PVC liner as they last indefinitely, mine has been down foe 30 years and is as good as new, has the bore collapsed completely ,if not they should be able to fit a plastic liner down into the original casing, is it a 6" if so 5 inch pvc fits inside, slot the first length a bit and you can still get a 4 inch pump in it.

PVC liner means a submersible pump and we didnt have one!
pump motor is above ground and shaft runs inside the steel pipe
hence issues

With the cost you quoted wouldn't you be better of upgrading to a submersible pump.

Or just use compressed air to raise the water and do away with ripoff merchants.....

unfortunately compressed air wont move enough air to irrigate 5 of the 80 acres of flat..
drinking water falls from the sky but 160 head of cows drink a sh*t load of water too
