As most of the members who follow music will now know, we lost Shane from The Pogues last week. A hard drinker, to be sure, but he clocked up 65 years, which is pretty good - considering! I watched this tonight, from his funeral: Dancing at his funeral... This was SO fantastic. Funerals should be all about remembering the person who has gone, but why are they always so negative and probably the epitome of the ultimate downer. Look at this one - everyone remembering Shane and enjoying the music and remembering the man - to the point of dancing with the Fairytale Of New York performance. So good. One person commented: "Don't be sad because they've gone, be happy because they lived" Such a good point. Had a few ales tonight in honour of Shane, so forgive me. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
