So decided to buy a new 6" 4 jaw chuck for my Wiler Toolroom Lathe and asked for a screw on back plate only to be told lathes now don't use that anymore so your not likely to find one

So went for a look on google and plenty there with a 30mm x 3.5 thread that suit a Hercus lathe but no 40mm ones. So duly rang them only to find they don't have any in stock from both mobs, so it does make one think one poor guy made a big batch of them 30mm ones and went under so the stock has all all been bought up for next to nothing then sold at a huge discount for a nice profit.

Well I'm now making a pattern and I do need to get down to the foundry to pickup the 6 cast shelves for my 1850 wood stove I'm restoring.

Now if one looks for something like a part or such and it's not from modern stuff forget it as this country has forgotten how to make things.

So like everything now if you do need something just make it yourself.

Regards Bryan
