I have a compak preserio laptop ,fairly small old . I reckon the fuse is blown internally . do any of you know how to take the case apart to get to the internal fuse,please.

Fuse? I've never seen a laptop with a fuse. More likely the computers either Fried or the power supply is fried. Check the power supply for voltage then make sure the power connector inside the laptop is not loose or broken.Edited by GreenD88 2010-04-12

Of what I read so far, Compaq Presario have a fuse on board.

My laptop owner has a short fuse.

Well I guess they do I've never had a problem with one before so I didn't know they were there. Now fuse's don't usually blow for nothing so buy several of them, (DigiKey), maybe yours was just old and decided to blow. But if not you might go through a couple before finding why it blew.

Thanks crew, I got her apart fairly easy ,,will check that fuse ,haven't seen it yet,but I'm progressing ,sort of a between jobs thingo.
