well....

energy saving switch on the plasma TV caused some kind of surge and POP.

Oh well bummer, sh*t happens lets go shopping!

put the (broken)plasma on the nature strip on the way out -gone by the time I got home!

So for the new one
6 STAR energy efficient.
The old 42"plasma used 250-300W when running the new
46" LED TV uses 70-110W when running.

Typically between kids and us the TV is on for 5hrs a day thus I make it as a 1KW /day chop off my use.

As for all the flash features -WIfi to the network, picture quality etc
ITS AWESOME.
model was a SONY bravia 46NX700 and i paid $2250 at good guys with negotiation.
interestingly Harvey Norman salesman couldnt match that price "I cant buy it for that" and they had a sticker price of $3088.

Happy with it...

Hi Karl

That,s a big saving in power, I went the other way I had an old CRT tv and decided to replace it with a more efficient led one and the power consumption went from 70 watts to 130 watts, so much for that idea, picture is better now I can see the sh*t they present with better clarity, real exited about that.

With your array the power shouldn't be much problem at all.

There you go! That 'energy-saving' switch did exactly what it was supposed to do. Think of all the energy it will save frying the thing like that!

Sorry for the toasted TV, but happy you came out ahead in the long run.
