Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Built a desulfator using a uP driving the usual MOSFET output stage.

For testing I connected the desulfator unit to my charging source, which is a well-filtered bench power supply. After an hour or so I had the thought, "what is happening to all these desirable high frequency components that we want going into the battery?" Out with the oscilloscope and sure enough the way I had it connected resulted in NONE of these wanted signals getting to the battery!

Connect the deulfator DIRECTLY to the battery and if you have another 1000uH choke place it in the lead from the battery to the charger. I also noticed that even a length of wire, say 200-300mm long, had enough reactance that the high frequency components were not affected at the battery terminals.
