Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Well my diary entries are a bit over due, but as anyone who lives in the tropics will tell you, not much happens in the middle of summer. Just standing in the shade works up a sweat.

Visited Trev today, he's about 45minutes drive from my place, wanted to check out his electric ute conversion. The installation is very neat. Trev took me for a dive down the road, and I must say, apart from no exhaust noise, the ute drove like any other car. Heaps of power, no problems spinning the wheels on the dirt road, and acceleration was clean without flat spots.

This weekend I also upgraded the cnc router with 2 new micro stepper drives, and rebuilt the electronics box while I was at it. The new drives have doubled the CNC traverse speed, and it runs a lot smoother. Now I feel the machine is up to making a set of windmill blades, and hope to start on something in the next few weeks.

The Chinese fibreglass blades arived. These are 1025mm long, 100mm wide and about 10mm thick. This week I'll make up a hub to suit the F&P windmill with blade extensions, so these blades will make a 2.6 meter turbine. I think with a bit of thinking and modification, these blades could work well.
