Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I was reading a discussion about the GEO222 blade profile over at Fieldlines and I came across a posting by Dave Moller of Royal Fabrications about the Wincharger turbines. Dave mentioned this link, its a site dedicated to these old wind turbines.

http://www.wincharger.com

I've added the link to my Links page. Royal Fabrications make the GEO222 profile in timber.

Has anyone tried this governing system on an F&P mill?
I haven't had time to research fully how it works but it looks as though it uses centrifugal force to swing the outer vanes to act as 'airbrakes'.
The inner vanes appear to act to improve starting torque as well as providing spring anchor points.
Would it be an alternative to gravity furling on an F&P mill?
