Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Ron Lin from the web site Windy Nation has sent in a article on his thoughts about using different blade materials. Some of you may be familiar with Windy Nation as a supplier of windmill parts.

I would have thought some mention of carbon fibre might have been on the cards. Lakota, and the larger Whisper blades are carbon fibre. I rate them similar to wood, without the maintenance.

Hello,
I would like some of your guys input. What do you guys think building your own generator or using a PMA motor?
I do understand that a PMA motor is going to require some attention as the brushes and bearings ware out and so fourth. I bought Hugh Piggott's book: A wind turbine recipe Book. He has alot of info and illustrations in his book.
Thanks Gary

Gary,

Best you pick the right section to post your message in next time as i dont see this as "site News" more like a windmill question.
Please try to use the relevant topic areas.

Pete.
Sometimes it just works
