Safe driving Trev.
Maybe a dash cam with front and rear cameras would be a good thing to add.

Here is the plan for driving to Sydney.

Use https://www.plugshare.com/ to find the charge stations you need.

Drove 79km.
Used down to 70%
Again only 2 phases connected but 32A, so still got 60A charge rate, 2 chargers on one phase.

Trev, how do you spend the time it takes to charge?
Charging appears cheap for the distance travelled but how much is spent in the cafe? while waiting.

Hi Trev, good to see your progress.
What battery bank size do you have in the car?
What is your maximum range?
Have fun on the trip,
Pete

Arrived at Childers 9.54pm. Got plugged in and set up swag for a sleep. Strange, only 2 chargers working, but no big deal, it was plugged in for the night.

Battery voltage was quite low. Down to 13%. Not to be done on a regular basis.

Drove much slower to make 248km.
Better timing than Canberra trip, getting in at 11.08pm

It was plugged in for 8hrs 56mins, but I got up around 2am to check the end of charge - all was good. Cell balancing functioning.

Cost $8.76

Picture taken this morning, day2.

How do you spend the time it takes to charge?
Most of the time is spent talking to people. Sometimes they are there hindering setup/ plugging in. Just back at Childers one parked in my access way right when I was about to go, we then talked for about 15-20 min.
Toilet is a good stop.
Write the blog, on a phone takes me ages. Some charge stops it doesn't get done.
Sometimes cook and eat. Though I didn't bring cooking gear this time. Rare, I will walk to buy something to eat.
Check emails, business still happens.
Sometimes charge points don't work or for some reason you have to find another one. I missed Miriam Vale because I saw on plugshare 2 Tesla's stranded. I knew I would not get access to the outlet till some time this morning if I went there. If a charger doesn't work, you have to report it, that can take a very long time. If you don't report it, it won't get on the fix me list.
Sometimes there are car issues. Here at Gympie for the first 1/2 hr I unloaded the gear to remove the cover over my chargers. One didn't work from Rockhampton. I thought it was the outlet, then again at Mt Larcom, but last night at Childers I knew it had to be in the vehicle. The CAN charger wasn't working just now but this morning at Childers it was working - that's the charger that does the balancing.
Sometimes you get to check out some commercial EV's and listen to the stories of what others are up to. One fellow in Brisbane had a reservation on a Tesla but when Elon said something on Twitter that he didn't like, he cancelled his reservation and went to Jaguar and bought an Ipace, with every option $150,000 plus.

What battery bank size do you have in T-Rev?
48 cells x 200Ah Thundersky Winston LYP.
Roughly 28kWh.

What is your maximum range?
That depends on many factors.......
Speed
Weight
Road conditions
Wind
Drive train / tyre pressure = friction

Generally speaking I say 200km in T-Rev with a totally empty pack at 100km/hr.

The specs you find on a commercial EV is some highway & some town speeds mix. Talking with commercial EV owners, say real world is much less than their specs.

Left Childers at 7.12am.
Arrived at Gympie 9.00am.
Drove 144km.
Batteries down to 37%. Too much traffic to drive steady, must go with the flow. Lots of roadworks. Roadworks driving to Childers as well last night. Red stop lights!

Charged 2hrs 11min

Cost $5.75

Somehow I lost the screen when I went to disconnect, so this is the invoice Chargefox emailed.

Further to the range question posted....

From Gympie it goes into freeway. I drove at 100kmhr for 102km and battery was down to 57%.(used 43%). 102km because I had to have a safe location to pull off.

So theoretically it should do 200km at 100km/hr

I have done testing at other times. If I remember right, at town speed, 60km on smooth level road could be as high as 360km range. But of course as said, there are a lot of variables that will affect the range.

Went to IKEA North Lakes, but it is out of action

Currently charging at IGA Redcliffe.
Cost $Free (there will be no record either)
32A
See the Type 2 outlet in the garden in front of the 2 dark coloured cars. The one directly beside T-Rev is an ICE car.

After here I am going to have a catch up with a long time friend who lives in the area.

Of all the parks in this carpark (IGA Redcliffe) this is the most commonly used spot, where the silver car is. All ICE cars.

Right next to the EV charge outlet.

Day 3.
Left Redcliffe at 5.30am. Forgot to look at the clock, but arrived at Suzi auto/ OZ-DIY maybe around 6.40am.

CAN control charger working again this morning.

Charged approx. 1hr.

Another free charge. Thanks Graeme. Graeme also does EV Conversion. We see ourselves as friends in business, not opposition.

Had a re-think about charge stations. Decided to miss the free power on the pole at Burleigh Heads and stop at Gold Coast Airport. That way, if the next station at Epic shopping centre down at Lennox Head doesn't work, then I have enough power to make it to Grafton.

I am glad I don't live in the Gold Coast part of the world. The traffic is terrible. Traffic jams and crawling on a 5 lane freeway is not for me.

Arrived at Gold Coast Airport charge station at 9.23am

Used 24% of battery (down to 76%)
Drove 80km. Some of that at extremely low speed.

80km for 1/4 of the battery, makes 320km range in those (not normal) conditions.

Charge station works so can bypass Grafton.

A great little country shopping centre
