Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Well gang, here we go again...

I am now trying to get the SDcard functions to work correctly but, is a no go..
I connected the SDcard socket up like it shows in the MM+ manual as shown here:

Using the FILES command says that the SDcard is not found...
So, after checking all the wiring again, I was pulling my hair out so, I decided
to take a look at Grog's excellent Explore 64 PCB and see if the socket pinout was any different.. Sure enough, it does show a different connection setup as shown here:

So, since my setup is not working, I guess it's time to get Mr. Razor Knife and see if the wiring change to pins 1,2, and 3 will get this thing working...

I will report back after "Surgery" and let you guys know if this helps..

Ahhhhhh yes.......

The ole 'MicroSD card pinout is different to the full-size SD card' dillemma.

As you have discovered, MicroSD cards have a slightly different pinout to full-size SD cards, so you have to make some changes there. If you wire up a MicroSD card socket the same as a full-size SD card socket, it WON'T work, as the pinout is different - as you now know!

Mr. Google is your friend there - type in 'Micro SD card pinout', and have a look at some of the hundreds of IMAGES you get back which show you what pin is what.

If it makes you feel any better, I made the exact same mistake when designing the Explore-64 with Geoff. I assumed the Micro-SD card would have the same pinout as the full-size SD card - WRONG!!!! In the 1A prototype(no-one has any of those), the SD card would not work for me either! I had to hack it to correct my wiring mistake, and then it DID work!
Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!

Post "Surgery" feedback..

OK... Things seem to be working fine now...

I did use pin 6 as the SDcard CS pin and, was correctly informed by the firmware that this pin was being used for the AUX console port.. So, I did set the option to
OPTION CONSOLE OFF

Nice..! OK... Now to turn on the WAVE sound system.. Prototype testing continues..!

Thanks grogs for the help on this..! (zonk dummy sometimes)
